This juried sculpture exhibition will be a showcase and survey of current work by California sculptors. The goal of the exhibition is to provide a platform for a wide variety of media and materials.The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art (SLOMA), 1010 Broad Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, will be the host. The Central Coast Sculptors Group consists of members dedicatedto education, networking and the sharing of information related to sculpture.
The exhibition runs from August 23 to September 29, 2013. Cash awards in the amounts of $1000, $500, and $250 will be paid for the first, second, and third place entries respectively. Entries must be received on or before May 10, 2013.
Coleen Sterritt is a Los Angeles-based sculptor whose work has been included in numerous exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe. She is a recipient of residencies, grants, and fellowships including the National Endowment for the Arts, Art Matters, The Roswell Artist-In-Residence Program, the J. Paul Getty Trust Fund for the Visual Arts /California Community Foundation and the City of Los Angeles Individual Artist Fellowship (COLA) from the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Throughout her thirty-year career, Sterritt has used a wide range of materials and forms from tar-covered mesh to clumps of pine cones to stacks of found furniture. Her sculpture focuses on the interaction between the organic and geometric, balance and imbalance, the intimate and remote with the work acting as a barometer for lived experiences.
